Publicated on: August 1, 2013

According to information provided by the Embassy of Hungary in The Hague, the United Kingdom, Spain and Estonia are initiating international police cooperation for the fight against child pornography.

Partners of the 3-year project are the Unit for Child Pornography and Child Sex Tourism of the Rotterdam Police Department, Kent Police Headquarters, Police Headquarters of Catalonia in Spain and Police Headquarters of Estonia. In the framework of the project a computer system will be developed to tackle sex offences against children. Universities of Liverpool, Dublin, Barcelona and the Erasmus University Rotterdam will carry out researches in the field.

Kent Police Headquarters will develop a system which helps to distinguish downloaders and visitors from the known offenders or suspects and enables police forces to pool information about them and their activities.

The European Commission has provided funding for the implementation of the project.
