On 6 June 2024, the National Institute of Criminology (NIC) hosted a hybrid conference on "Recent Trends in Human Trafficking since 2020, with a special focus on the characteristics of labour exploitation", attended by 170 law enforcement officers, prosecutors and labour inspectors in person and online.

The conference was organised within the framework of the international project "Developing a financial model of labour exploitation to identify victims and companies and prevent exploita-tion" (INVERT), which was awarded under the European Union's Internal Security Fund programme.

The aim of the conference was to inform participants about the international and domestic characteristics of labour exploitation, research results, difficulties faced by police and prosecu-tors in such cases, challenges, possible solutions, as well as the tasks and competences of the labour inspectorate and the activities of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

More information about the project is available on the website of NIC.
