A seminar was organized by ILEA Budapest by the title of TIP Session on 2 October 2012.
Besides national efforts there is a strong need for action at European level to fight against trafficking in human beings (THB) – told Krisztina Berta, the deputy state secretary for EU and international affairs of the Ministry of Interior on a press conference held on the 20th Sziget Festival in Budapest.
Human trafficking is one of the most serious violations of human rights, and fundamental freedom. Human trafficking means that slavery persists in the XXI century Europe and thus it is unacceptable. Every year several hundreds of thousands of people fall victim of this crime. Society does not pay enough attention to the exploitation of vulnerable victims.
The second NGO Round Table headed by the Hungarian Anti-Trafficking Coordinator Ms Krisztina Berta, Deputy State Secretary for EU and International Affairs will be held on 6th of June 2012.
EURES Network (European Employment Service) within the National Employment Service and Department on Crime Prevention and Witness Protection of the National Police Headquarter launch a common awareness-raising campaign. Aim of the campaign is to draw attention to the dangers of working abroad, provide information on the rights and opportunities of jobseekers willing to work abroad and help distressed Hungarian citizens. The Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Crisis Management and Information Telephone Service (OKIT) are taking part in the campaign too.
In order to improve the fight against human trafficking and to develop the bilateral relations between Hungary and Switzerland a full day event was held on 15th of May 2012 in the Ministry of Interior.
The first NGO Round Table (non governmental organization – NGO) headed by Ms Krisztina Berta, international coordinator will be held at 9.00 am on 20th of December 2011 in the Ministry of Interior.
