The Prosecutor's Office of Bács-Kiskun County brought indictment of human trafficking and forced labour against a man from Kecskemét, who gained the trust of a girl who had escaped from a residential home and worked as a prostitute for more than half a year.
According to the indictment, the Kecskemét man with a criminal record did not have a steady job or regular income when he met the young girl, who was on medication for her mental illness, in the summer of 2022. The child was placed in a children's home in October 2022 be-cause of her school behaviour, absenteeism and vagrancy, from which she regularly ran away. He was in regular contact with the runaway girl and tried to gain her trust. Recognising the child's vulnerable situation, the man offered her the opportunity to live with him and his fa-mily in a one-room flat with no amenities on Christmas 2022. He did this in order to use her as a prostitute to earn a regular income for himself and his family.
By running the girl, the man earned around HUF 6.5 million in seven months, which he used up. He took the girl's earnings every day, but did not feed her or take her to a doctor when she was ill, so the victim wanted to leave the accused in the spring of 2023. The man threatened to take her to a closed institution and abused her several times.
At the end of July 2023, fed up with her vulnerable situation, she ran away from him.
The prosecutor's office charged the man in custody with the offences of aggravated human trafficking and forced labour and proposed a prison sentence.
