The training programme of Slachta Margit National Institute for Social Policy was implemented in the framework of the project entitled “Renewal of methodological and information systems in the social sector” between June and September 2023.
The training of the social and child protection signalling system was determined by Government Decision No. 1228/2022 adopting the Action Plan for 2022–2023 of the National Anti-Trafficking Strategy.
In the course of 2022, the training material adapted to the target group was first developed under the title “Making human trafficking visible”, then the National Institute for Social Policy – in cooperation with the Hungarian Association of Family and Child Welfare Services – started to organize the training programme for social care professionals.
The three-day intensive training sessions were attended by 52 participants, while in the conferences held in Budapest and four other cities further 247 professionals participated, mainly coming from the family and child welfare services.
The ultimate aim of the project was twofold: to detect signs of exploitation as early as possible and to provide proper assistance to victims, thus preventing re-victimization.
Katalin Kopf, head of the Chance for Families 2005 Foundation usually covered the topic of victim identification, while Renáta Toszeczky, head of a shelter of the Hungarian Baptist Aid gave presentations on communication with victims. Márton Berkes presented the current trends of human trafficking on behalf of the Ministry of Interior, followed by Andrea Kloppné Molnár from the National Crisis Management and Information Hotline (OKIT), then the coordinators of the Victim Support Centres presented the role and activities of the victim support service.
