To commemorate the day, an awareness-raising conference was organized for the sixth time on October 16, 2021 by SOLWODI Hungary Association and the House of Dialogue.
At the event, Dr. Nóra Tamara Jakubovich (Ministry of Interior) presented the trends in human trafficking and the domestic and EU framework for action against the phenomenon. Police colonel László Kovács (Ministry of Interior) reported on the program launched to develop the 300 poorest settlements of Hungary, and Ágnes De Coll from (Hungarian Baptist Aid) presented a study on the situation of human trafficking in Hungary. Participants were then able to listen to a summary of interviews with survivors as well as learn about a survivor’s story.
The EU Anti-Trafficking Day was established by the European Commission in 2007 and is commemorated on 18 October each year. The main aim of Europe Day is to raise awareness of trafficking in human beings and to increase the exchange of information, knowledge and best practices between the various actors in this field.
