On 17 October 2024, a training was organised at the National Institute of Criminology (OKRI) in the framework of the international project "Developing a financial model of labour exploitation to identify victims and companies and prevent exploitation" (INVERT), which was awarded by the European Union Internal Security Fund programme.
The Office of the Prosecutor General of Hungary brought charges against two men who forced a woman into prostitution in Budapest by deception and threats.
The operation was organised by Europol, Frontex, and Interpol in early June. The week-long raid in Hungary was coordinated by the National Bureau Investigation of the Rapid Response Police (NBI).
Investigators from the National Bureau of Investigation of the Rapid Response Police arrested a man in Nyíregyháza in February, who is suspected of having forced two Hungarian women into prostitution for years. After the arrest of the suspect, police officers continued to investi-gate the case.
On 6 June 2024, the National Institute of Criminology (NIC) hosted a hybrid conference on "Recent Trends in Human Trafficking since 2020, with a special focus on the characteristics of labour exploitation", attended by 170 law enforcement officers, prosecutors and labour inspectors in person and online.
